Red-tail hosted our first annual “Earth-Month Tree Planting” event on a breezy April 28th at the newly dedicated Dutro-Ernst Woods, our largest urban nature preserve on Kilgore Avenue between Muncie and Yorktown. In honor of Earth Day, our tree-planting event focused on further development of the ecosystem at Dutro-Ernst Woods. This event was the largest of our many volunteer events including our popular, weekly “For The Land Fridays.” Over 50 volunteers participated in planting nearly 300 trees on such a chilly day, making a lasting difference in their community. With 33 acres of habitat and over a mile of fully-accessible trails, Duto-Ernst is quickly becoming one of our most visited nature preserves in Delaware County. We are grateful to Josie and Geoff Fox for their financial support of the restoration work at Dutro-Ernst Woods.
