Join Red-tail Land Conservancy to celebrate the grand opening of Fall Creek Woods, Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 2pm. We will enjoy the beautiful woods and hike the new loop trail following the opening celebration.
Fall Creek Woods is a 143-acre nature preserve located in Henry County south of MIddletown, Indiana. The new property expands the wildlife habitat and creates public access to Red-tail’s Indiana dedicated state nature preserve, Smith-Crisler Preserve.
Towering old trees, steep bluffs, meandering creeks, and birdsong will greet you as you hike the trail and experience this natural gem. Sit and soak in the beauty of the woods on a bench overlooking a glacier carved bluff.
Red-tail and the communities of east central Indiana are indebted to the Bicentennial Nature Trust, the Indiana Heritage Trust, the Henry County Community Foundation, and the Muncie, Delaware County Community Foundation. Fall Creek Woods is the first land conservation project in Indiana where two community foundations partnered to preserve a local natural asset.
This preserve permanently protects a not only a scenic property but also wildlife habitat and an important waterway, Fall Creek. We hope you join us to celebrate and continue to visit throughout the seasons.
Red-tail’s work of protecting and preserving special places like Fall Creek Woods can only be accomplished with financial supporters and volunteers.
