Get Involved

One of the most important activities for Red-tail volunteers is maintenance of our natural areas and maintaining a constant vigil and battle against the invasion of non-native plant species. These aggressive species are responsible for degrading and destroying thousands of acres of our natural plant communities in Indiana. In our area of the state, the biggest threats are from Bush-honeysuckle, Reed-canarygrass, and Garlic-mustard. RTC spends hundreds of hours each growing season controlling these threats in east central Indiana. To become involved with this activity, call or e-mail the office and arrange a time for individual or group training. Eradication of these plants is light work but takes many person-hours. So bring your church group, school group, or just a bunch of friends. The more the merrier!
