Help plant milkweed for Monarchs. A joint effort between the Endangered Species Coalition, Healthy Communities of Henry County, and Red-tail Land Conservancy, we’ll be helping monarch butterflies and other pollinators that use monarchs’ preferred habitat.

Similar to the federally endangered rusty-patched bumble bee (officially listed as endangered in March 2017), the once-ubiquitous monarch butterfly also has seen its population enter what has been called “free-fall decline” over the past 20 years. A petition to list the monarch butterfly as a federally endangered species is pending before the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, with a listing decision due in June 2019.

Everybody can lend a hand to help monarchs by planting milkweeds that are native to our region. Join us at the Fall Creek Woods parking lot Saturday, May 18, 2019, at 9:00 AM. Wear long pants, gloves, and sturdy shoes.
