Like an open house, an “open woods” is time for you to wander at your own pace through an awe-inspiring forest. The natural trails in Frank and Phyllis Yuhas Woods will lead you beneath a towering canopy that’s leaves are beginning to unfurl. Wildflowers of myriad colors and shapes blanket the forest floor in a joyous celebration of springtime to the tune of birdsong and frog calls.
An all-ages self-guided wildflower scavenger hunt will available. Bring your camera to capture the many delightful flowers you’ll see. Download “Seek by iNaturalist” to help identify plants and wildlife you run across.
Beginning at 1pm, you can park along the grassy lane past the gate. The gate is located down a short paved drive off 5964 W 400 S, Farmland, IN 47340.
You have the freedom to roam on the two meandering loop trails (1 mile total) until 4pm. Yuhas Woods is only open to the public for events. This is a special chance to see a beautiful forest!
Please keep responsible recreation in mind. Stay at least 6ft from other trail goers, announce before you pass, pack out all items you bring in, wear a mask if you are unable to social distance and please stay home if you feel ill.
